Young adult and urban fantasy author Melissa Marr is an American writer of great repute who&#;s built herself a solid career over the years.
With a vast number of books and series behind her, the legacy she has created has grown exponentially. Gaining both commercial and critical success, she shows no signs of stopping any time soon as well, as her stories grow from strength-to-strength.
Early and Personal Life
Growing up with an interest in the fantastical, author Melissa Marr had an American upbringing after being born on the 25th of July, Interested in fairys and ghosts from an early age, she was fascinated in the ethereal and the paranormal.
This fascination is what led her to later become a writer within the young adult field focusing on such themes. Teaching English literature along with writing at university for well over a decade, she&#;s become more than versatile in the craft of telling stories. She also happened to teach in high-school too, as she helped the children giving her a further insight into her own work and progress.
Taking from the world around her, she worked to develop her skills as she honed her voice and her own unique approach to storytelling.
Currently living in Virginia, she continues to write to this day as she carries on creating her unique mix of young adult and urban stories.
Having had success both critically and commercially, she&#;s managing to build her audience every day, constantly expanding upon her work. With more books set on the horizon she will carry on this trend into the foreseeable future, as her series have plenty of potential left in them yet.
Writing Career
Publishing her first book in , she made her initial appearance on the scene with Wicked Lovely, a book that was to become a New York Times bestseller.
The first in a series of four books, it marked the begginning of a collection and set-up her name overall as a writer. It also managed to help establish her presence on the literary scene and build a reputation for what was to come next.
Creating a collection of novels for both the middle grade and the young adult demographic, she&#;s managed to capture a wide-range across the youth market.
From the Wicked Lovely series she started in , to her most recent &#;The Blackwell pages begun in , she&#;s attracted all sorts of readers. This was further encapsulated when she wrote some adult novels such as Graveminder in Gaining both commercial and critical success, she isn&#;t without her fair share of awards of either, as she&#;s gained the attention of the critics.
&#;Wicked Lovely&#; has gotten a succession of awards, such as the &#;New York Public Library&#; award for teenagers, along with one from Amazon as well. Seen as a pioneer within her field, she is unsurpassed as a writer of fiction for the young as well as teenagers.
Producing some anthologies as well, Melissa Marr manages to keep herself continually busy, always with another project ready.

Creating the world and characters, along with her overall tone, it managed to capture and provide the essence of her fantasy that readers have come to appreciate. Talks of a film production have also been in the pipeline, as Universal Pictures originally brought the rights to have it made.
Featuring the story of a young teenager named Aislinn, it tells of her story and how she has the ability to see faeries.

Rituals such as this need to be observed as underneath their town of Claysville is a shadowy land ruled by Mr D where the dead need to be kept from walking the earth, something which is maintained to this day by none other than the Graveminder.
