Early Life and Family

Ryan Lochte was born on August 3, , in Canandaigua, New York, to Steven and Ileana Lochte.

His mother's family is of Spanish and Basque descent from Cuba, while his father's family has German, Dutch, and English roots. Lochte has two older sisters, Kristin and Megan, and two younger brothers, Devon and Brandon.

Childhood and Swimming

Growing up in Daytona Beach, Florida, Lochte spent much of his childhood in the pool.

His father was a coach for the local club team, and his mother coached her son until he was 11 years old.
